James "Jim" William Heady, 89, of Stanton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.
Jim was born on September 5, 1936, in
Sullivan, Missouri, to James Lee and Maud (Woodcock) Heady. He grew up in the Sullivan area and attended Stanton Grade School. From a young age, Jim was no stranger to hard work, doing various farm jobs and taking on odds-and-ends work throughout the local area.
Over the years, Jim was employed by several companies, including Wagner Electric, Pea Ridge Mines, Chrysler, and Dana Brake Parts. During his early life, he was blessed with three children. Later in life, while working at Dana Brake, he met Glenda Williams. The two were married on March 25, 2000, and together made their final home in Stanton.
Jim found joy in the simple things. He loved being outdoors, riding his four-wheeler, and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He had a deep appreciation for old country music and enjoyed watching westerns and science fiction shows. Jim was proud of his hands-on skills-he made homemade slingshots, liked working on his tractor, and took great care in polishing and cleaning his knife and gun collection. Food was another pleasure of Jim's life. He especially enjoyed biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, and had a fondness for potatoes prepared any way.
Jim will be remembered as a hardworking man who appreciated nature, craftsmanship, and the comforts of home. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Glenda of Stanton, MO; his children: Lisa Ann Heady of St. Genevieve, MO, Melinda Hoepfinger and husband, Clyde of Dupo, IL, Stacey Matson and husband Eric of Union, MO; 8 grandchildren: Ashley, Melissa, Michael, James, Brianna, Trevor, Christian, and Kendall; 8 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Jack Heady and wife, Anna, Delores Brown, and Bonnie Walker all of
Sullivan, MO; one sister-in-law, Rita Heady of Bourbon, MO, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Maud Heady, his son, James "Dean" Heady, his brother, Bob Heady, and two brothers-in-law, Don Brown and Bob Walker.
