James Samuel “Jim” Voss, Jr., 86, retired employee of Monsanto Chemical Company and lifelong resident of Columbia, died Saturday, March 16, 2024 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Daimwood officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211. Jim was born on November 24, 1937 in Maury County to the late James Samuel Voss, Sr. and the late Frances Murphy Voss. He graduated from Culleoka High School in 1955 and served in the United States Army. Jim worked for Monsanto Chemical Company for over 30 years and was a member of Ephesus church of Christ.
Survivors include his sister, Ann (Billy) Truelove; brother, Gene “Buddy” Voss; niece, Jackie (Edward) Hargrove; nephew, Jason (Emily) Voss; special friend, Betty Lentz; numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Voss, Edward Hargrove, Tommy Voss, Glenn Voss, Kenny Harris, and Ed Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be George Horne, Terry Voss, and Alton Walker.
