We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother, Jimmie Heckert on March 31st, 2025
Born in Toledo Ohio to Lloyd and Allie Nuszbaum on February 26th, 1944. At the age of 5, her family moved to Tennessee where she would be until the age of 14 when she came back to the north end of Toledo and attended Woodward High School.
She was raised in the Church of Christ and baptized at the age of 13. It was at the congregation at the Western Ave. Church of Christ where she met Chuck Heckert, the man with who she would spend 65yrs with. They were married on April 21st, 1962, and together raised 3 children.
She suffered many health problems over the years, serious health problems that all who knew her thought would shorten her life. But we were blessed with 81 years because she was a fighter. A tiny woman in stature, but with a huge heart, she was fiesty but compassionate and most of all, very generous. She got excited easily and had a child-like quality about her that was endearing. She loved the Ohio State Buckeyes with such a passion! She also loved anything that sparkled, she was an avid rock collector and glass collector and also loved Garfield the cat and decorated the whole kitchen in all things Garfield! She loved painting her nails, usually with sparkly polish, and received many compliments to which she proudly smiled. One of her greatest accomplishments was traveling to all 50 states with her husband.
Leaving behind to mourn her is her loving husband of 63 years, Charles Heckert, daughter, Rosanna(Bob)Bihn, sons Charles(Daisy Dooley)Heckert, and Chad Heckert. Grandsons Zachary Elliott, and Eric Heckert, granddaughter Diana Heckert, special nieces, LouAnn (Dave) Derr, Linda (Lee) Henderson, Lisa (Mark) Sell, and Erica (Phillip) Sandoval. And many other loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Irene Ayers and Martha Nuszbaum, and brother John Nuszbaum.
Visitation will be at Freck Funeral Chapel at 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, Ohio 43616 from 4-8 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Funeral services with be at Freck at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, with a graveside service to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
We would like to thank the kind and compassionate nurses at the Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany Indiana.
