Jim King, 86, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, in Springdale, Arkansas, after spending the past 37 years in Amarillo, Texas.

He was born on October 12, 1938, in Ranger, Texas. Jim graduated from Texas A&M University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry and a minor in Accounting. He devoted his life to the cattle and meat packing industry, where his hard work, stubborn grit, and refusal to quit earned him respect across the field.

Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Behind the Chutes Cowboy Church in Amarillo.

Strong-willed and strong in spirit, Jim faced life’s challenges head-on and never stopped fighting. His sharp humor and plain-spoken wit lightened even the hardest days, and those who knew him will remember both his strength and his smile.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo, Texas.

Jim is survived by his children: Jana King, Janece King Mesick, Kimberly Wofford, and Alan Jenkins; his grandchildren: Travis Rogers, Courtney Rogers, Cheyenne Cor, Cody Cor, Colter Cor, Jackson Cor, Cole Mesick, Addison Mesick, Julianne Wilson, Rebecca Thrasher, Sarah Lagunas, Megan Perez, Lacey Wofford, Jaycee Davis, Katie Giglio, Lindsey Celii, Connor Donahue, and Molly Bjorgo; and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Sue O’Dell of Monahans, Texas, and his brother, Dr. Bryan Stuckey of Seguin, Texas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jim Foster; nephews, James Foster and Wesley Foster, along with their families.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda King; his parents, James H. King and wife Doris; his mother, Leah Inez Sylvester (Nee Mosley); his sister, Jo Anne Perryman; and brothers Harvey Womack and Billy Sylvester.

Jim will be remembered for his grit, his humor, his faith, and his fighter’s spirit.
