Jimmy Dean Bowman, 89, of Lake City, Arkansas, passed away on March 28, 2026. Born November 27, 1936, in Lake City, he was the third son of Nolan and Opal Bowman. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1954 and attended Arkansas State University, where he was a two-sport athlete. He earned a degree in physical education in 1958. Mr. Bowman coached high school basketball in Steele, Missouri; Manila, Arkansas; and Lake City, Arkansas. In 1976, he founded Bowman Brothers, a family-owned business that continues to operate in Lake City today. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother in law, Mae Owens; his brother, Nolan Bowman ; and his grandson, John Houston Ridge.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Evelyn Bowman of the home; his daughter, Deanna Ridge (Mark); his son, Jim Bowman Jr. (Kelly); his brothers, Stanley Bowman and Jerry Bowman (Toni); his grandchildren, Joshua Ridge (Amanda), Zachary Ridge, Jonathan Bowman (Ashley), Taylor Emery (Charley); Danny Byrne; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Gatlin Ridge, Sean Lawson Ridge, Zach Ridge, Josh Ridge, Mark Bowman, and Jonathan Bowman.
