Jimmy F. May, age 74, of Marion, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 9:09 p.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on October 22, 1950 in Herrin, IL, to Carol Victor "Jim" and Anna Olivia (Mulker) May.
He married Rosemarie Jean Redig on October 5, 1974 in Herrin, IL, and together they have shared fifty years of marriage.
Jim first worked U.M.W.A. mine construction for many years. He later went to work in property management. But for the last twenty-plus years of his working career, Jim worked as a truck driver until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
For a period of time during his childhood years, Jim's family lived near Paddock Lake in Wisconsin. It was during his time there, that his love for fishing was born. Jim loved to fish for bass, fishing in numerous tournaments. He also loved to goose and duck hunt and loved music. Above all, Jim loved God and loved his family. He worked very hard, but when he wasn't working, he loved to be with his children and grandchildren. He cherished the time he spent with his family creating many wonderful memories.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Rose May of Marion, IL; four children, Brandi May of Marion, IL, Jami May-Murray and husband, Trevor, of Armington, IL, Jordan May of Marion, IL and Joshua May of Marion, IL; twelve grandchildren, Lily, Isabella "Rosie", Molly, Olivia, Maddux, Kamden, Maxx, Lucian, Gabriel, Gracie, River and Journi; six great-grandchildren, Leah, Mylah, Lorenzo, Luca, Léon and Lovell, and one more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and several extended family members and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nathan May; sisters, Nancy May, Jerry Schneider-Stiles and Jackie Schneider; and brothers, Bob Schneider and Ed Schneider.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held at this time. Jim's family is planning a celebration of life for a later date.
For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be directed to the family, payable to "Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home." Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
