Mr. Jimmy Lee Walker, age 87, of
Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. He was born in Carroll County, Georgia on May 2, 1937, son of the late Willie Walker and Ora Lee Hightower Walker.
Jimmy used to say that he wanted to be remembered for being an easy going, pleasant person. He enjoyed his life to the fullest and was a devoted husband and son, a proud and providing father, a dear brother and a fun-loving friend!
Mr. Walker met his beloved wife at a church social and shortly thereafter, they began building their happy life together, having four children. His wife lovingly called him "Boy" or "Jimmy L.", and his kids called him "Daddy or Dad". He was "Uncle Jimmy" to many, and his friends called him "Walker".
Being a hardworking farm raised boy, he was self-taught on farm equipment and homestead repairs. He always had a natural gift for creating gadgets and repairing tools and devices. Being a true Entrepreneur at an early age, he was always looking for ways to earn money. As a young boy, he would walk to the Tallapoosa school house early each morning to light the fire for heat earning him a few cents. Then he would acquire old bikes and repair them, which lead to a small, at home bike repair business. He would also deliver newspapers on his bike, for many miles, in his area communities.
Among many of his talents and successes, Jimmy achieved the honor of being a decorated Eagle Scout. Some of his fond memories were when he played the sousaphone in the Bowdon High School Marching Band and was proud to have been instrumental in starting the first Marching Band at the local West Georgia College.
After starting his early career at the Douglas & Lomason Company and the Southwire Company, he created a successful local business: the Carrollton Lighting Supply and Modern Electric Company.
As well as being a long-time member of The Carrollton Jaycee's Chapter, Jimmy had a passion for hunting and fishing. Then later in life he greatly enjoyed the game of golf. He was famous for his fish-fry feast and for his perfectly cooked meal of ribeye steaks, tender baked potatoes and salad.
He had a really good and fulfilling life! The family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers, and for remembering Jimmy's sweet smile and pure laugh, his great sense of humor and his gentle disposition.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Walker and W.H. Garrett, Kathy Walker and Todd Rupp; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jillian Walker, Charles and Angelica Walker; grandchildren, William and MacKenzie Crowder Garrett, Skylee Walker, McKenna Walker, Sarah Walker, Ariany Fraire, Christian Walker; great grandchild, Kolton Paschal; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eldred and June Walker, Donald and Janice Walker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan Walker and Jim Cole, Joyce Walker and John Doss.
