Mrs. June Marie Eason Sorrells, 83, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1941, in Grantville, Georgia, the daughter of the late Robert Eason and Thelma Hall Eason.

From an early age, June displayed a love for learning and a natural gift for leadership. She attended Russell High School in East Point, Georgia, from 1955 until 1958, and graduated valedictorian from Dudley M. Hughes Vocational School in Macon in 1959. While still in high school, June met the love of her life, James L. Sorrells. Their young romance blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and on June 29, 1959, they began a marriage that would span more than six decades.

June's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and later a proud grandmother. She poured her love into her home, where she created a place of warmth and hospitality. June had a remarkable green thumb and found joy in tending her large flower and vegetable gardens. She delighted in canning the fruits of her labor, often sharing them generously with family and friends. She was also known for being an extraordinary gift-giver, always finding thoughtful ways to make others feel seen and cherished.

Creativity was woven into June's everyday life. She loved quilting and found great satisfaction in crafting pieces that carried both beauty and love. But perhaps her favorite escape was found in the pages of books. June was an avid reader who believed in the power of stories to inspire and connect. She supported literacy and community by donating countless books to Friends of the Library and volunteering at the Barker Book House, where she formed lasting friendships.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated member of Carrollton First Methodist Church, June was especially passionate about Missions. She gave freely of her time and heart, and one of her most treasured experiences was traveling to Redbird, Kentucky, in the Appalachian Mountains, where she served others with compassion and humility.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James, her daughter-in-law, Kim Sorrells, and her sister, Glenda Parker.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Cherishing her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kelly Sorrells, Van and Nelda Sorrells, and Jimmy and Dody Sorrells. She was affectionately known as "Grandma" to her grandchildren, Holly, Meghan, Nicole, Andrew, Hayden, Olivia, and Nolan, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating June's life will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 PM, with her son, Pastor Van Sorrells, officiating. Interment will be held at West Georgia Memorial Park, where Andrew Sorrells, Hayden Sorrells, Nolan Sorrells, Blake Williams, Noel Lines, and Alton Parker will honor her as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions in June's memory to the Barker Book House through Friends of the Neva Lomason Memorial Library (wgrls.org/neva-lomason-memorial-library) or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 (diabetes.org).
