Jimmye Ruth Jenkins Harmon, age 96 of Jacksonville, Florida formerly of Young Harris, Georgia passed away Friday, November 3, 2023. Jimmye was born September 7, 1927 to the late Thomas and Bonnie (Caldwell) Jenkins in Young Harris, Georgia. She had lived in Jacksonville, Florida for 63 years and had recently moved back home to live. Jimmye was a member of Arlington United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Florida and very active in her church and community. She was a graduate of Towns County High School and also played basketball at Towns County. She enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing and line dancing. Growing up she was a tom boy who loved the outdoors. Most of all she loved spending time with her family who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Harmon; brother, Jerry Jenkins; grandson, Justin McGowan. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Lynn) Johnson, Debbie (Frank) Large, Darla (Mark) Ward; sisters, Manita Berrong, Joyce Kimsey; grandchildren, Shannon McGowan, Haley Thornton, Hannah York, Hope Martin; great-grandchildren, Hollis Thornton, Hank Thornton, Reed Lynch, Cade Lynch, Boyd Martin, Brock Martin, Cove York; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral service: Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home. Banister-Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Harmon.
