Jo Ann Bradford, 90, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. A family service was held to celebrate her life at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City with Reverend Chris Dodson officiating.
Jo Ann was born September 23, 1934 in Wilson, Oklahoma to Haskell and Reba Roberts. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1953 and continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in English and vocal music. Jo Ann was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she taught high school in Corpus Christi, Texas where she met and married Marvin T. “Brad” Bradford, Jr. on April 6, 1958.
Jo Ann was a faithful servant of God and devoted to her family. Together, she and Brad created a nurturing home for their two children. She took pride in her home-making skills, keeping an immaculate house and serving delicious meals at the family table. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She taught herself to sew making baby clothes and over the years supplied her family with everything from marble bags to prom dresses. Her attention to the smallest details conquered even the most complicated Vogue designer patterns.
Jo Ann was equally dedicated to her loving husband Brad for 67 years and his career in the oil business. She often spent time at his office, helping it run smoothly and efficiently. She was active in the Oklahoma City Landwives and honored to serve as President. Jo Ann also returned to the classroom for several years as a substitute teacher with the Oklahoma City and Putnam City Public Schools.
Music played a significant role in Jo Ann’s life. She was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and a talent for playing the piano. Jo Ann took joy in sharing her love for music with others, singing at family events and in her church choir at Chapel Hill. She gave her daughter her first piano lessons and they attended many concerts together. Jo Ann was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma City Ladies Music Club, holding many officer positions and served as President from 2015-2017. She enjoyed volunteering at the Oklahoma City Symphony Show House and was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
In her later years, Jo Ann became interested in genealogy and spent numerous hours researching her maternal lineage. She was especially proud when she traced her ancestry to a patriot of the Revolutionary War and earned membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Richard. She is survived by her husband Brad of the home, daughter Beth Ann Amico (John) of Choctaw, Oklahoma and son Tres Bradford (Camille Hebert) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The family wishes to thank Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center for their care of Jo Ann, especially Ariana and Latosia, and later at home, Suncrest Hospice.
In remembrance of Jo Ann’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Oklahoma Dementia Care Network or the Oklahoma City Ladies Music Club, 509 West Main Street, Jones, Oklahoma 73049.
