Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maupin Funeral Home - Fulton on Oct. 8, 2024.
Jo Anne Clingman, 84, of Mokane passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home surrounded by her daughters and her sisters.
She was born June 23, 1940 in Callaway County, to the late Joseph M. Taylor and the late Mildred Pauline (Holzhauser) Taylor.
Jo Anne was united in marriage to Carl Eugene Clingman on July 9, 1960 in El Paso, Texas. They spent 58 years of wedded bliss in Mokane, Mo. Carl preceded her in death on October 17, 2018.
Jo Anne was a graduate of Mokane High School and proudly held the title of Valedictorian of her class. While she attended high school she worked for the Mokane Missourian Newspaper, she also worked as a waitress at the diner in Mokane. When she became a mother, she took on the roll as a homemaker. When her youngest daughter started kindergarten, Jo Anne went back to school at Lincoln University and obtained her bachelor's degree in education and later earned her master's degree in education as well. She started her teaching career as a seventh-grade teacher for South Callaway schools, later moving to middle school math and science, and finishing her career as a second-grade teacher. Jo Anne cared about each one her students like they were family. Throughout her teaching career Jo Anne was honored with many different accolades. Though she was deserving of all recognition, she was such a humble person and never felt it necessary, as she was just doing what she loved. She carried herself like this through all parts of her life, never truly realizing the impact she made on many people's lives. While teaching was a big part of her life, her greatest accomplishment by far was her family. She loved spending as much time with her family as possible. Jo Anne enjoyed reading, working in the yard, and babysitting her grandchildren. To know Jo Anne was to love her and she will be greatly missed.
Those that remain to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tammy Clardy ( Scott) of Steedman, Stacy Leisinger (Tony) of Steedman, Leslie Cross of Mokane; brothers Jim Taylor (Debbie) of Mokane, Jerry Taylor of Holts Summit; sisters, Juanita Clingman (Jerry) of Steedman, Janice Miller (Johnny) of Fulton; grandchildren, Rhiannon Clardy, Garth Clardy, Dylan Clardy, Lindsey Traub (Chris), Kathryn Vandelicht, Greta Cross, August Cross; and great grandchildren, Levi, Will, Jesse, and Luke Traub, Chase, Brayden, and Allie Vandelicht, and Milo Rigdon.
Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as brothers, John Taylor, Jack Taylor, and sister, Jesse Bartley.
