Loving Mother, Aunt & Sister
Jo-Elena "Gigi" Ritacco (1947–2025)
Jo-Elena "Gigi" Ritacco, 78, of Nutley and Montville, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025. Born in Newark, Gigi was a lifelong Nutley resident before recently settling in Montville. Her radiant smile and generous heart made every moment brighter, leaving a legacy of love and joy.
Gigi, a beloved retired manager at Sabena Airlines, radiated warmth and professionalism in all she did. Her passion for travel took her across the globe, where she embraced new cultures with a joyful spirit. Always selfless, she spread kindness to everyone she met. Gigi loved her family dearly, especially cooking heartfelt meals for them during the holidays and never missing any of her nieces or nephews events. Her love for her hometown of Nutley sparkled as she loved to walk through the parks and take her dogs on walks around town daily. As a devout Catholic, she found joy and strength in her faith and church community. Most of all, her heart swelled with pride for her only son Joey's many achievements, her love for him is boundless and bright.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Yolanda Toto, Gigi is survived by her devoted son Joseph and his wife Maria, and her dear sister Maria Edelstein. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick Ritacco.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gigi's vibrant life at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4–7 p.m., with a service at 6:00 p.m. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Gigi's memory with donations to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
Gigi's adventurous spirit, faith, and radiant love will forever inspire and uplift us.
