Jo Beth Smith, passed away on August 6, 2024, in Longview, Texas. She was born on February 10, 1935, in Abilene, Texas.
Jo lived a life filled with compassion, kindness, and a deep devotion to her loved ones. Her talents as a seamstress were not only evident in the beautiful creations she made but also in the intricate threads of love and care that she wove into the lives of those around her.
Jo's spirit lives on through her surviving family and friends who cherish the memories they shared with her. Her son Robert Dugger (Lois) of Brownwood, TX; daughter Debbie Whitfield (Dennis Markham) of Quitman, TX; daughter-in-law Karla Dugger of Ore City, TX; sister Jackie Cary of Highland Park, CO; brother-in-law Larry Smith (Ann) of Bryan, TX; sister-in-law Lynette Smith of Gilmer, TX; grandchildren Kyla Dugger, Kenzie Bingham (Chris), Stephanie Larkins, Julie Minton, Adam Whitfield (Chelsea), Melissa Blair (Scott), Scott Whitfield (Michelle), and Sara Aguirre. Additionally, Jo Beth leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to have her as part of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents Betty and Bob Arthur; husband Glenn Smith; son Eddie Dugger; brother Don Howard; and sister Jeane Sartori.
Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the visitation service on Friday, August 9th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The funeral service will be held on August 10th starting at 10:00 AM at the same location with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.
Jo Beth's passion for sewing was only surpassed by her love for her family. Her kindness and creativity touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
