Joan McConnell Anderson

Joan McConnell Anderson, age 84 of Wilmington, NC, passed away after a short stay at Liberty Commons in Wilmington, NC on May 13, 2024.
Joan was born in Erie County, NY on March 6, 1940 to the late Dorothy Weyand and Robert Charles McConnell, Jr.
Joan is survived by her daughter Lynn Anderson Dozier (Bill), granddaughters Amy Underwood (Stephen) and Holly Dozier (Dawson Cawood), great grandchildren Vann, Anderson, and Everett, her son Brian Gregory Anderson, her twin sister Judith McConnell Stevens, brothers Terry McConnell (Joanne) and Guy McConnell (Helen) and sister-in-law Pat McConnell, along with many other extended family members and friends who loved and will miss her.
She is preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, her brother Robert McConnell and sister Barbara McConnell.
Joan loved to sing and was very active in The Sweet Adeline's in Hamburg, NY. When she moved to Wilmington she met women from other areas of the country and, with the help of a couple of others, started the first Sweet Adeline's Chapter in Wilmington.
Joan was also an avid golfer; living at Porter's Neck Plantation was a dream for her. She loved the game!
Joan worked at GE in Castle Hayne for over 25 years. She found the work rewarding.
When Joan retired, she moved to The Villages in Florida, which allotted her with plenty of golf, sunshine, fun, and good friends.
Joan will be missed by her many friends, but especially her family.
