Joan O. Archer, born September 12th, 1934, passed away of natural causes at the age of 89 on June 7th, 2024. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Joan also resided in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Florida; but Colorado was her home for over 40 years.
Joan loved living in Colorado and enjoyed the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer including hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. Joan was an inspiration to everyone she met on hiking trails, as she continued to hike the beautiful Colorado mountains through her late 80's, shortly prior to her passing.
Other interests included playing bridge and traveling both internationally and throughout the United States. While raising her three children, Joan returned to school and obtained her bachelor's degree from Temple University. She then obtained her master's degree from the University of Central Florida and was a Certified Public Accountant. Joan worked as an auditor for the IRS and was a teacher at the Metropolitan State University in Denver.
Joan, the daughter of Harry Obarski and Eileen Heslin Obarski, is predeceased by her husband Donald G. Archer and her oldest brother Harry Obarski, and is survived by her brother, Michael Obarski, her three children, Donald (Sue) Archer, Michael (Nancy) Archer, and Mary Beth Archer; and by her four grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for July 16th at 10:00am at St. Louis church in Louisville Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
