Joan Blatz

Joan Cecilia (Hennessy) Blatz passed away peacefully June 28, 2025 in Altoona, Florida. Joan was born on January 5,1930, the only daughter of Richard and Neva (Davenport) Hennessy. Joan resided with her parents in Williston Park, NY.
She married Leo Blatz in December 1985, and became a parent of 8 children. They lived in Southport, CT, Tavares, FL and in Altoona FL. Joan faced each chapter of their lives with grace, humor and courage and supported her husband in raising his large family.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her stepdaughter, Jean Blatz, her step grandsons, Seth Tracy, Daniel Tracy, Joseph Blatz and Eric Heinz as well as her husband, Leo G. Blatz. She is survived by her 7 children- Thomas Blatz, Westford, NY, Nancy Tracy, Litchfield, CT, Tricia Heinz, Draper, UT, Jane Johnson, Tallahassee, FL, Anne Blatz, Enfield, CT, Peter Blatz, Boise, ID and John Blatz, Tamarac, FL. Her sister-in law, Sister Marie Jeannette Blatz, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren with another baby due in September. Joan was also very close to her paternal cousins, especially Pat and Barbara.
Joan worked for the AHRC (Association for the Help of Retarded Children) on Long Island and volunteered at Lakeview Terrace. Joan and Leo had many friends and lived life to the fullest. Travel, family and friendships as well as service and a shared faith in God were very important to their relationship.
Joan Cecilia will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Leo Blatz in Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg, Florida.
