Obituary of Joan Chaloupka
Joan Chaloupka, age 92, of Iowa City, passed away on October 29, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the Mass at the church. Burial will be held in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Joan Barbara Chaloupka (Neuzil) was born January 9, 1932, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of Aloysius and Mabel (Lenoch) Neuzil. Joan attended St. Mary's High School where she graduated. After high school, Joan married the love of her life, Kenneth Chaloupka on November 28, 1953. Joan worked at Mercy Hospital as a Nurse's aide in the Orthopedic Department. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Joan's family includes her four children: Gail (and Darrell) Roberts, Cheryl (and Rick) Evans, Kim (and Lisa) Chaloupka, and Diane Chaloupka. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Chad (Natoshia), Jeremy (Carrie), Jessica (Tyler), Jennifer (Ian), Nick, Tyler, and Colin. Four great-grandchildren: Chazz, Savanah, Preston, and Easton. Three brothers, Don Neuzil (Arlene), Bill Neuzil (Judy) and David Neuzil.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, parents, son Joseph, daughter Tina and great granddaughter Jordan Skyler sister Mary (Marion) Moore, Shirley (Rich) Lentz, brother Richard Neuzil.
