Joan Marie Conroy, 92, of Manassas VA, formerly of Altoona, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Paramount Senior Living in Virginia. She was born on June 19, 1933, in Altoona, daughter of the late Henry T. and Angeline ( Cancilla) Mangiacarne. Joan married Ralph J. Conroy on February 27, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2010. She is survived by her 3 children: Michael R. Conroy of Duncannon, PA, Christopher P. Conroy of Denver, CO., and Marie E. Hileman of Bristow, VA; 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, William “Bill” Mangiacarne of Portage. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Mangiacarne. Joan was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, and member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. She worked as a secretary for Caterpillar Tractor Company in York, PA, and was the secretary for their family business, Conroy Machine Shop. Joan enjoyed traveling, crocheting, spending winters in Florida and Summers at the beach with her family. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona, Msgr. Stanley B. Carson, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, in Altoona. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 118 Rosehill Cemetery Dr., Altoona, PA 16602.
