Joan Crose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wright Funeral Home on Dec. 5, 2025.
Joan Kay Crose, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on December 4th, 2025. Born on December 3rd, 1940, in Brookfield, Missouri, Joan lived a long and beautiful life defined by love, compassion, and steadfast dedication to others. She married the love of her life, Franklin David Crose, on December 21st, 1959. Joan devoted 40 years of her career to the Division of Aging in Brookfield, Missouri, where her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment made a meaningful impact on countless individuals and families. Joan was an exceptionally kind, loving, and thoughtful woman whose warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her generosity knew no limits-she consistently put others before herself and brought laughter and light to any room with her joyful sense of humor. Her life was a true testament to selflessness, grace, and enduring strength. Joan's many passions enriched both her life and the lives of those around her. She loved cooking and baking, and she was especially known for making delicious candy at Christmastime-a tradition cherished by family and friends. She had a remarkable green thumb and took great pride in tending her beautiful garden. Joan also enjoyed sewing, traveling the country, and cheering on her favorite sports teams, including the Kansas Jayhawks, the Missouri Tigers, and her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Above all, she treasured watching her grandchildren play sports and celebrating their accomplishments. She is preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Alma Deskins, and her husband, Franklin David Crose. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Grant) Huffman of Overland Park, Kansas, and her son, Daniel (Dea) Crose of Nashville, Tennessee. Joan leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Alayna (Jake) VanWinkle, Scottsdale, Arizona • William McGary, Lee's Summit, Missouri • Hannah (Garrett) Shook, Lake Charles, Louisiana • Anakin Crose, Nashville, Tennessee • Caleb Huffman and Sadie Huffman, Overland Park, Kansas • Morgan Greenwood and Tessa Greenwood, Salt Lake City, Utah She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy: Iris Shook, Romee Huffman, Max Huffman, and Kobin Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South Eagle Church and may be left at or mailed Wright Funeral Home P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, Missouri 64628. Joan's legacy of love, kindness, and gentle strength will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and adored her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 p.m. at Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield, Missouri.
