Joan F. Hughes of Glen Mills, PA, age 88, passed away peacefully with her children beside her.
Married first to Edwin Hughes, she was blessed with and survived by four children: John Hughes of Rockland, ME; Elizabeth Bruccoleri of New Hyde Park, NY; Keith Hughes of Hastings-On-Hudson, NY; and James Hughes of Coatesville, PA. Each of whom knows that he or she was her favorite!
Joan is also survived by numerous friends and family, including: daughters-in-law Pamela Hughes and Erin Rabitcheff; son-in-law Dominick Bruccoleri; and her five exceptional grandchildren Sean Thornton, Christopher, Kylie, Sean Patrick and Chloe.
Her second husband, Paul P. Potocki, of Wilmington, DE predeceased her in 2009. Paul had a great joy of living, and being married to him, if only for a short time, was one of the happiest times of her life.
Joan was grateful to have so many wonderful friends from her school days in Delaware that met regularly as "The Monday Lunch Group That Meets on Wednesday." She has also enjoyed making trips back to New Jersey to see friends and to play Mah Jongg with some of her former, fellow teachers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at her childhood church, St. Ann's in Wilmington, DE at 11:15am on Saturday December 4, 2021. Friends and family may visit for an hour before the Mass at Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Ave., beginning at 9:45am. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Ashland, DE following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Maris Grove Resident Care Fund, 100 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
