Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doherty Funeral Homes, Inc. - Delaware Avenue on Apr. 3, 2025.
The earth has lost another angel as Stacey passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 after her five-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She died peacefully at home, surrounded in love, by her family. Present were her husband (George Tietze), mother (Nancy Hogan), and daughters (Charlotte Tietze, Jocelyn Tietze and Lindsay Tietze Maloney). She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law (John Hogan III and Heather Hogan), nieces (Riley and Hayden Hogan), granddaughter (Lyra Maloney), son-in-law (Matthew Maloney), son-in-law-in-waiting (Kevin Mastro), stepmother (Trina Hogan) and many other loving extended family members. She is preceded in death by her father (John Hogan II) and her infant son (John Melford Tietze).
Born in Wilmington and raised in Memphis, Stacey's endless love for children was evident in her life-long commitment to early childhood education. She served as an early education teacher for Bridgeton Public Schools in Bridgeton, NJ, at Wilmington Montessori School (also as Early Childhood Learning Director), Montessori Learning Center, Warner Elementary, Montessori Academy of Christina, and First State Montessori Academy. Her recent years in service to children were as Child Find Coordinator with Red Clay Consolidated School District. Stacey attended Germantown HS in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from Brandywine HS in Wilmington, received her Montessori certification from Pacific Oaks College in San Leandro, California (during her years living in California), and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Wilmington University. In the wake of her career are hundreds of children that will always remember her kind and loving presence.
It's impossible to overstate how much Stacey will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Her joy was infectious, her love, compassion and empathy endless. For those to whom she was wife, mother, daughter, sister or friend, there will always be an empty space filled only temporarily by the memory of her smile and laughter. And we are grateful to still, at least, have that.
Services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Friday, April 11 at 2:00PM (301 North Bancroft Parkway,
Wilmington, Delaware 19805). Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, from 5:00-7:00PM at the Doherty Funeral Home (1900 Delaware Ave,
Wilmington, Delaware 19806).
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Stacey's memory to the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund at Penn Medicine, 3535 Market St, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (https://giving.aws.cloud.upenn.edu/fund?program=MC&fund=843447).
