Kathryn A. McGonigle, 68, of Wilmington, Delaware peacefully passed away with loved ones at her side on Monday, May 19, 2025. Born in Wilmington on November 2, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Gerald F., Sr. and Eva (McCurdy) McGonigle.
Kathy was a graduate of Delcastle High School, class of 1974, and was employed with Walgreens Pharmacy, having retired as the store manager. A lifelong member of St. Ann's Parish, Kathy was a talented baker and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald F., Jr., David W. and Kennedy E. McGonigle.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her son, Christopher J. McGonigle and wife, Melissa; her grandchildren, Jackson, Mia and Lilly McGonigle; her sister, Ann E. Verchick and husband, Clark; her brothers, Robert J. McGonigle and wife, Debbie, and James J. "Slim" McGonigle; her sister-in-law, Leslie McGonigle; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington on Wednesday, May 28 from 9:00 – 10:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Gilpin Avenue and Union Street at 10:30AM, immediately followed by interment at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kathy may be made to Making Strides in Delaware, c/o the American Cancer Society, PO Box 970, Fort Washington, PA 19034 (https://www.secure.acsevents.org).
