Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Walker Foster will begin at 1:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2025, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Gary Blair officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Mrs. Foster, 94, of Meridian, died Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Poplar Springs Nursing Center following an extended illness. Joan retired from Regions Bank as a teller with a career spanning over 25 years. She began her career with Merchant and Farmers bank in the mid 1970's. She was also a member of Meridian Business and Professional Women's Club. She enjoyed working on needle point projects and other crafts throughout the years. She also enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. She was a great and sought-after seamstress. Joan was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church, formerly Southside Baptist Church, where she was reared and grew to serve Christ throughout her life as long as her health allowed. She was a loving wife, and mother; she especially loved being Mamaw and serving her family, friends, and church family any way she could. Mrs. Foster is survived by her children, Sue Ellen Buchanan and David Foster (Kathy); her grandson, Steve Buchanan, III; her niece, Barbara Hamilton; her nephew, Tom Kirkland (Gay); as well as a host of extended family members and friends. Mrs. Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jesse Foster, Jr; her parents, Joe Walker and Lena Charlton (Henry); and her sister, Eloise Kirkland (Thomas Lee). The Foster Family suggests memorials be made as donations to the Lottie Moon Fund at Central Baptist Church in lieu of flowers. Family and friends are encouraged to express online condolences at robertbarhamffh.com. The Foster Family will receive guests from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM prior to funeral rites in the chapel.
