Joan Fowers, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, gained her angel wings on June 25, 2025. She passed away at home surrounded by her husband and family.
Joan was born on May 12, 1939, as the oldest child of Christian Jay and Reta (Johnson) Roskelley in Logan, Utah. She was raised in Ogden, and at the age of 13 moved to Roy. She was educated in Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1957.
She married Max Fowers on April 3, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the love of her life and her whole world. Together they raised 6 children. Her true legacy is found in her family. She has raised 3 generations of upstanding citizens to show kindness and love in the world.
Together, Max and Joan lived in the Hooper community where she loved her neighbors and friends. She worked the Montgomery's Ranch House. Joan was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a firm testimony of the Gospel and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She strove to emulate our Savior. She served as Primary President, Relief Society Secretary, and ward chorister, in addition to many other callings. She was an excellent visiting teacher and minister.
Joan had amazing homemaking skills. She was an excellent baker. We all have our own favorite recipes made by our mom. She was skilled at crocheting. We have several handmade crafts she gave us which we will hold dear. Joan enjoyed canning fresh produce from their garden to help provide for her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing cards and board games, reading, hunting, and fishing. She loved being surrounded by family and friends.
Max and Joan spend several summers working together in Yellowstone. She met many friends during their time there. She loved hiking when the family came to visit and showing them the special things of the area.
She is survived by her husband Max, her six children, Annette (Mike) Lecker, Kathie (Doug) Cummings, Christine (Mike) Erhart, Darlene Jensen, Roy (Angie) Fowers and Joanel (Jeff) Whinham, 21 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren. Also, her brother David (Coralee) Roskelley and sister Janet (Tony) Judd, sister in laws Dawna Roskelley and Lorraine Roskelley. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Brooke Albertson, and 4 brothers, Chris, Gerald, Harold, and Steven Roskelley.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tyler Dixon and Primrose Home Healthcare and Hospice for the loving care of mom. We would also like to thank her granddaughter, Kadie Chadwick for being her special nurse and caretaker.
Family and friends will meet at a viewing on June 29, 2025, from 6-8 pm at the Park Ward building, 5601 S 6100 W, Hooper, UT. And again, on Monday June 30th from 9:30 to 10:45 am with funeral services to follow at 11 am.
