Obituary of Joan Dolores Hurban
Joan Dolores Hurban of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 14, 2024. Joan was born in Vineland NJ in 1932. She was a lifelong resident of Vineland NJ until her death. She was the daughter of Anna and Edwin Bergamo. She was a 1950 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, as the salutatorian of her graduation class.
Joan was a lifelong member of Saint Padre Pio Parish and Saint Mary's Catholic Church in East Vineland where she and her husband Ed were married in 1955. She had a great devotion to Saint Padre Pio. She was employed by Vineland Labs, an important poultry vaccine manufacturing company, where she spent most of her career, retiring in 1991.
Joan loved her husband and her family dearly. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and holidays, or quiet times spent reading or doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid gardener and took particular pride caring for her roses. But her true and somewhat hidden passion was following the Phillies.She and her husband Ed loved hiking, biking, and skiing at their Pocono home. They both also enjoyed traveling to various National Parks across the country and Joan was especially fond of New England.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Ed, brother Edwin Bergamo, sisters Viola Smaniotto and Mary Anne Dougherty. She is survived by her younger sister, Elaine Cowan. Beloved wife of 66 years to Edward Hurban, loving mother of Eddie Hurban (Joyce), Karl Hurban (Laurie), and Karin Peszka (Andy). Grandmother of Eddie, Doug, Nicole, Karl, Bailey, and Anna and beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:30am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 South Lincoln Avenue, Vineland NJ, followed by a 12:15pm Requiem Mass at Saint Mary's Church 736 Union Road, East Vineland. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's cemetery.
