Joan Frances Koska, age 87, passed away on March 6th, 2025 at Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility. Joan was born January 16, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward, her father, Frank Kadlec, her mother, Rose Kadlec, and her brothers, Ronald and Donald. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and Timothy (Pamela), and her sister, Darlene Sweeney. She was a devoted grandmother to Stephanie, Katherine, Matthew, and Elizabeth. Long-time residents of Glen Ellyn, Joan and Ed resided previously in Berwyn, Illinois where they were married August 9th, 1958. Joan was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company's Mid-America Home Office in Chicago where she met her future husband. She then dedicated her life to becoming a homemaker and raising her two sons. Joan was a dedicated member of the Southminster Presbyterian Church, and was a participating volunteer at the Tabor Hills Healthcare Facility in Naperville. Joan loved spending time with her family and friends, including yearly family vacations and long weekends at Fred Thomas resort in Wisconsin. Joan was an avid shopper, longtime bridge player, enjoyed supporting Chicago's sports teams, and loved to cook - specializing in Kolaczkis, coffee cake, and her famous chocolate chip cookies. She and Ed enjoyed live theatre performances, were members at the Morton Arboretum, and served as election judges for many years. Joan's ultimate love became supporting and spending time with her four grandchildren. Whether it was visits to the Naperville Children's Museum, Morton Arboretum, or attending the numerous events that the grandchildren participated in, Grammy Joan was always their biggest fan. A memorial service in Joan's honor will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church (680 S. Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137) on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan's name may be directed to the Southminster Presbyterian Church.
