Joan Adele Lulis
76, a longtime resident of Capac, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023.
She was born April 13, 1947, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Stepomaitis) Baibak.
Joan was a graduate of Saint Mary's of Redford Catholic High School in 1965 and received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Marygrove College in 1969.
She married her love, Jack Lulis, in October of 1969.
Joan was a faithful member and servant of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where she attended mass, served on the Alter Society, as well as other beneficial roles within the church. Joan took great joy in mentoring students at Capac Community Schools as a substitute teacher for sixteen years. She also spent much of that time privately tutoring students in math and reading and most importantly, building memorable relationships with her students. She happily volunteered her time (10 years) and talents for the benefit of children with cancer by sponsoring annual St. Jude Bikeathons. She raised both money and hopes to help find a cure for children's cancer.
Joan was delighted in raising her family and being a homemaker. She was an incredibly talented baker and cook taking great delight in sharing her tasty treats with family, friends, and neighbors. Everywhere Joan went, you could be assured the trip would take twice as long because she seemed to know everyone. If she didn't know you, you soon would know her. She loved talking and sharing with anyone she would meet. Joan dedicated many hours as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Mentor, where she shared her joys of crafting and imparting life lessons.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Jack Lulis; sons, Adam (Stephanie) Lulis, Eric (Lisa) Lulis; daughter, Elizabeth (Cano) Ramirez. Grandmother to Matthew, Lynne, Joshua, Jessica, Alaina, Alexander, Robert, Gabby, Marisa, Christian, Sophia, and a blessing to come, brothers Richard Baibak, Donald Baibak, and Micheal Baibak.
Joan is preceded in death by her brother, Tom Baibak.
