Joan Elizabeth Sanders Morris, beloved mother, loving sister, devoted Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in her lifelong home of Lubbock, Texas. She was born on October 22, 1941, to Gordon Robert and Ethel Sanders. She spent her formative years in Lubbock, graduating from Lubbock High School in 1960.

Joan dedicated nearly four decades of her career to Texas Tech University, where she found purpose and fulfillment in her role as Office Manager in the Career Center, positively impacting countless students along the way. Her warm spirit and commitment to her work endeared her to colleagues and students alike.

Joan's creativity blossomed through her passions for cross-stitching and crocheting. She had a great love for video games and movies, often sharing these interests with family and friends. An avid reader, she cherished biographies and the enchanting world of Harry Potter. Joan had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dogs and cats, reflecting her kind and nurturing nature.

As an enthusiastic supporter of the Red Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, she brought joy to her family and friends with her lively spirit during game days. Joan's life was filled with love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for the simplest joys.

She is survived by her daughter Jenny Lind, daughter Elizabeth Ann and son-in-law Erik With, sister Karen Sparkman Lindell, grandchildren Shawn Patrick, Danielle Nicole (Chris Huffman), Tyler Gordon (Nyna), Erin Elizabeth (Trent Williams), Kennedy McKay, Nielsen LeRoy Sanders, and Jensen Elizabeth, as well as great-granddaughters Amelia Jane, Caroline Elise, and Olivia Renee. A legacy of love and devotion will continue through her family, who will forever cherish the beautiful memories made together.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Morris, her father, Gordon Sanders, her mother, Ethel Sanders and her dear friend, Antionette Burse White, who was like a daughter to her.

A Funeral Service will be held at Sanders Memorial Chapel on February 5, 2026, at 10:30 AM, followed by an inurnment Service at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church Columbarium on February 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Joan Morris Scholarship Fund through Texas Tech University, https://give.ttu.edu/Joan-Morris.

In the embrace of family and friends, Joan's spirit will live on, reminding all who knew her of the power of love, kindness, and unwavering support.

Joan Morris was a beloved member of our parish family at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. She and Carl brought joy and laughter to all of us who were fortunate enough to know them. They both will be missed, and we pray that Joan rest in the peace and light of God.
