Joan Hilda Maxon Plock of Venice, FL died peacefully after a short illness on March 17, 2025, at the age of 95. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother and teacher and devoted to her Christian faith.
Joan was born on April 29,1929 in Niagara Falls, NY to Clark and Hilda (Niesser) Maxon. Her childhood was spent in Batavia, NY and at Horseshoe Lake.
Joan attended St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY. After devoting time to raising her children, she continued her education, graduating from Kent State University in 1971.
Joan married Layne F. Plock on September 11, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2021 after 72 years of marriage.
Joan is survived by her children David Plock (Lauri Rowell), William Plock, Lynda (Gary) Annick, Cynthia (Brian) Elliott, Nancy Steyer (Robert Seymour) and her other "son" Norman (Sharon Rhew) LaRusch. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11a.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 401 S. Broadway, Englewood, FL 34223, with a reception to follow.
If you wish to make a contribution in Joan's honor, her favorite charities were St. David's Episcopal Church and Tidewell Hospice.
There are in the end three things that last:
Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is Love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
