Joan Lorraine Riffle, 67, of Walkersville, entered her Heavenly Home on Friday, April 25, 2025. She was born in Weston, WV on July 14, 1957, daughter of the late George Lemuel Simpson, Jr. and Mary Oleta (Williams) Simpson. Joan was united in marriage on November 22, 1975 to James Nelson Riffle, who survives.
Joan's infectious smile will forever be remembered by her husband, James, two sons, Adam Riffle and wife, Amanda of Berlin and Timothy Riffle of Walkersville, sister, Joyce Perry of O"Brien, FL, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and the countless friends she has made over the years.
Joan was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Simpson and a brother, Clayton Simpson.
Joan was a graduate of Lewis County High School and furthered her education obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Paralegal at Fairmont State College. She had retired after her dedicated career as working as the Deputy Clerk for the Lewis County Courthouse for 16 years. Joan had an adventurous side and enjoyed traveling and going on day trips. At home, she has a passion for crocheting, gardening and tending to her flower beds. Joan's friendly, energetic and loving touch will be missed.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew, WV. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Joan may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
