Funeral service for Mrs. Joan L. Smith will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 13, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Ricky Smith and Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 13, 2024, at Magnolia Baptist Church, 2274 LA 578 Winnsboro, LA, 71295. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mrs. Smith was an RN and she worked and retired from Glenwood Regional Medical Center. After her retirement she went to work at St. Francis Medical Center. She was always taking care of everyone on the job or off the job. Mrs. Smith enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, family, and friends. The one thing she made sure of was anyone who was close to death knew the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Lois Greer; sister, Geraldine Greer Newman; and niece, Stephanie Greer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry Smith; daughter, Tammy Smith Peppers and husband, Tim; son, Larry Alan Smith and wife, Alex; grandchildren, Logan Taylor and Lillian Taylor; brother, Russell Greer and wife, Donna; sister, Jo Evelyn Greer McCullough and husband, Mac; and nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Marshella Williams, Claire Harrell Fincher, Kathy Perkins, Jamie Guillot, Ginny McMullen, and Jill Roark. Honorary pallbearers will be Kindice MacDaniels, Kaylin Hunter, and Carol Powell.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Sandra Smith for 24 hour care that was provided as well Lacey Stevens, Odis Williams, and St. Joseph Hospice for their love and care for Mrs. Smith.
