Maudie Joan Teague, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Adamsville, Texas, on August 1, 1935 to Yacob and Lois Lang, Joan was a cherished member of her community and an inspiration to those who knew her.
The funeral service for Maudie Joan Teague will be held on December 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at 3:00 PM at Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
A proud graduate of Graford High School, Joan continued her education at Howard Payne University. On June 13, 1954, she married Jack Duane Teague, with whom she lovingly raised two children, Duane Teague and Leanna Teague.
Joan was known for her unwavering faith and devotion to her church and was a member of the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, where she enjoyed participating in various functions and gatherings. Joan found joy in life's simple pleasures, including watching her favorite television shows, such as *The Price is Right* and *Let's Make a Deal*. A passionate sports fan, she looked forward to cheering for the Texas Rangers and enjoyed the excitement of rodeos. Additionally, she held a special affection for Hallmark movies, particularly those celebrating the Christmas season.
Family gatherings and vacations were highlights in Joan's life, where she relished the company of loved ones. She remained in close contact with her friends, often sharing delightful conversations over the telephone. Joan's collection of stamps and character glass from McDonald's spoke to her unique interests, while her love for birds brought her immense joy-especially her treasured pet bird, Nuni.
Joan is survived by her son Duane Teague and wife Earlene of Brownwood; daughter Leanna Teague of Brownwood; grandson Jacob Teague and wife Amber of Early; great grandsons, Shaylor and Phoenix Teague of Early; great granddaughter Arialynn Teague of Early; sister-in-law Linda Wise and husband Jim of Chelsea, Alabama; brother-in-law Eugene Hall and wife Doris of Graford, TX; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Duane Teague; her parents Yacob and Lois Lang; sister Inez Hall and brother Larry Lang.
Her family would like to give a special Thank you to Gentiva Hospice and Pecan Bayou Nursing and Rehab for your loving care you have shown Joan.
Joan's kind spirit and warm heart will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, devotion to family, and vibrant personality will forever remain in our hearts.
