Joe Duane Peterson, age 70, of Blanket passed away August 26, 2025. A time of visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas on Friday, August 29 from 12 to 1:30 PM followed by a graveside service taking place at May Cemetery in May, Texas at 2 PM.

Joe was born June 21, 1955 to Martin R. and Mava Peterson in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from High School and went on to attend some college classes, but he really enjoyed being outdoors. Joe managed livestock and had also worked in the oil field. He met Beverly and the two were married in Hobbs, New Mexico on June 26, 1985.

Joe had been a member of the Church of Christ in Blanket. He belonged to the Cutting Horse Association and was a past member of the FFA and 4H. Joe enjoyed cutting horses, 3PCattle, the rodeo and spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his mother, Mava Peterson; his wife, Beverly Peterson; his children, Raymond Jenkins and wife Cathryn, Jeremy Peterson, J.J. Peterson and wife Christine, Michael Jenkins and wife Amanda; his siblings, Lynda Boland, Ray Peterson and wife Becky, Leroy Peterson and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Whittany, Elijah, Briahnna, Jahneya, Grace Anna, Nariyah, Jeremiah, Yahshua, Aloria, Josiah and Mason; six great-grandchildren, as well and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Martin Peterson.
