Joan Jacobs Weiss passed peacefully in the arms of her daughter on January 10, 2024 at 92.5 years old. She was a force to be reckoned with- vibrant and active to the very end. She loved life and all it had to offer. But her greatest love was the love of her life Dr. B. Allen Weiss, an honored surgeon at Valley Hospital. After 33 years of blissful marriage, life was never the same for her after he passed in November 2020.
Born and raised in Brookline MA, Joan L. Stearns was always the perfect Bostonian. She attended & graduated Barnard College in the 1950's. During her NYC college years she visited frequently with her favorite Uncle Lou Alter, the famous music composer of such famous works as Miss Orleans, Manhattan Serenade and more. He often would take her as a guest to dinner and theater with his friends the Schuberts of Broadway. It was these experiences that made Joan such a lover of theater & fine arts. It is at Barnard she met and later married Charles Jacobs of Paterson NJ and the founder of the infamous Jacobs Department Store where she managed a fashion boutique within the store. Prior to that she was the founder and owner of Pampered Pets grooming salon where she pampered so many dogs to look their very best. They lived and raised their 2 children in a wonderful historical home that she enjoyed restoring in Glen Rock NJ.
Joan was a lover of beautiful things. She would do all she could to always look her best and surround herself in beauty. She loved antiquing, collecting beautiful things, creating crafts, animals, fashion, tracking her stocks, being grammy Joan and most of all being Allen's wife.
Joan is survived by her 2 daughters Julie Jacobs and Jodee Winger, her son in law Scott & her grandchildren Zach & Amelia. She is also survived by her husband's children Victor (Vic) Weiss, Amy Weiss & Betsy Tyras.
Fly high princess! You will be greatly missed!
But it was time for you to go dance with Allen again!
We love you
