JoAnn Beving, 87, long-time Ackley area resident, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Franklin Country View in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church east of Ackley. She will be laid to rest at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, February 6 at the church. Woodley Funeral Home of Iowa Falls is caring for JoAnn and her family.
JoAnn Amelia Beving was born on July 9, 1936 in Austinville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lula (Brand) Rops. She was raised in Austinville with her six brothers and sisters. JoAnn graduated from Ackley High School.
On June 14, 1955 JoAnn was united in marriage to Eugene Beving at the Christian Reformed Church in Austinville, Iowa.
JoAnn was a homemaker and mother whose life was centered on family. She was employed by Roth Drug and Ackley Hardware for many years. JoAnn was a member of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and was on the building committee.
JoAnn loved spending time with friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She liked watching Iowa Hawkeye football, basketball and the Minnesota Vikings. She loved to go shopping with her daughter Julie and also having the grandkids visit the farm. They loved making homemade apple sauce and picking strawberries and green beans from the garden. They especially loved her orange drop cookies.
JoAnn Beving is survived by her children, Michael (Lisa) Beving of Ankeny, Iowa, Julie (Rodney) Carolus of Ackley, Iowa; grandchildren: Megan (Nick) Parker, Sara (Vince) Ferrari, Ryan Carolus, Justin (Emily) Carolus; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hadley Parker, Amelia and Ayla Ferrari, Kaydence Brown, Easton and Walker Carolus. She is also survived by her sister, Frances (Floyd) Hook; brother, Dennis (Rhonda) Rops; sister in-law, Jeanette Rops, brother in-law, Virgil (Sylvia) Beving; sister in-law, Paulette (Daryl) Courtney and brother in-law, Don Harken. Those who will greet JoAnn in heaven are her husband, Eugene Beving; parents, John and Lula Rops; sister, Betty Harken; infant brother, Leonard Rops; sister, Valda (Arlo) Dougan; brother, Marvin (Verla) Rops; sister, Mary (August) Ascher; sisters in-law, La Donna Rops and LaVonn Aldinger.
