Joann Rae DeCroix, 90, of Germantown Hills, IL, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away at 7:25 am on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Carle Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
She was born on September 5, 1934, in Springfield, IL, to Floyd Raymond Jackson and Marie (Handley) Campbell. She married Victor Joseph DeCroix on May 29, 1952 in Springfield, IL. Victor passed away on July 22, 2022.
Surviving are their children, Vickie (Gerry) Burroughs of Pekin, IL, Raymond (Holly) DeCroix of East Peoria, Debra (the late Rick) Gebhardt of Pekin, IL, Stephen (Diane) DeCroix of Spearfish, SD, and Michael (Michelle) DeCroix of Washburn, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Floyd Jackson of Springfield, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Raymond Jackson, sisters, Judith Kay Moats and Gayle Lynn Hinkle, and son-in-law, Rick Gebhardt.
Joann worked in the kitchen at Germantown Hills Grade School for many years. She was a member of Willow Hill United Methodist Church in Germantown Hills. Joann enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking, especially trying out new recipes.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Willow Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Nicole Cox officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service. A luncheon will immediately follow Joann's service in the fellowship hall at the church. Burial of Ashes will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation, P.O.
