Joann Evans age 62 of Nashua, IA died Monday, November 10, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Joann Evans, was born October 27, 1963 the second youngest of eleven children to Jack and Betty (Knapp) Barrett. She grew up around the Nashua area. She attended Charles City High School and graduated with the Class of 1981.
Following high school, she met her future husband, Randy Evans, through mutual friends. The couple was united in marriage on December 31, 1987, in Nashua. To this union, five children were born. The family made their home in the rural Nashua area, where they built a life centered on family.
Throughout her life, Joann worked at several jobs around the Nashua area, including at The Bradford House, Chautauqua Guest Home and later found her calling with Comprehensive Systems in Charles City, where she worked for nearly 30 years. She was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to balance career and family with quiet strength and grace.
Family was truly at the heart of Joann's life. She was the matriarch - always putting her family first and making sure everyone else was cared for. She was a proud grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and never missed a chance to make them feel special.
She enjoyed playing Trivial Pursuit and Phase 10, and was known to be very quick at trivia - often seeming to always have the right answer. Her gentle humor, warm smile, and giving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joann is survived by three sons, Brandon (Tina) Evans of Nashua, Nicholas Evans of Nashua, Dillon (Jenny) Evans of Austin, TX; two daughters, Christina Evans of Nashua, Megan (Jeremy) Weeks of Waterloo; sixteen grandchildren; Blake, Christian, Titus, Aubreigh, Marcus, Taytum, Mikayla, Michael Jr., Ashlyn, Dallas, Charli, Jace, Chloe, Benjamin, Rowan, and Lucas; six sisters, Kate (Pat) Leonard of Charles City, Vicky (Butch) Johnson of Charles City, Julie Scoles of Nashua, Beth Laydon of Nashua, Denise (Dennis) Schumacher of Waverly; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2021, her parents; two brothers, Glenn and Bill Barrett; two sisters, Debbie Pint, Lisa Evans; 3 brothers-in-law, Tom Scoles, Michael Laydon, Kenny Kraft, and her best friend Julie Drilling.
Joann's children would like to extend a special thank you to Mom's beloved sisters for their incredible generosity, selflessness, and unwavering support during her final weeks. Your love, care, and willingness to do whatever was needed brought Mom, and all of us, so much comfort.
