Mass of Christian Burial for Joann Hoch, 92, of Melcher-Dallas, will be held Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Bauer Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Memorials in Joann's honor may be made to the Bauer Cemetery or EveryStep Hospice.

Phyllis Joann (Williams) Hoch was born April 1, 1933, to Harold and Ruth (Ridlen) Williams. She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1951.

Joann met Clifford at a square dance in Pella, Iowa. They were married soon after on August 31, 1957, in Bauer, Iowa. They were married 66 years prior to Clifford's passing! They were blessed with four children: Mary Helen, Craig, Kevin, and Todd.

Joann was a stay-at-home mom until later years! She was a clerk at the city of Dallas and was also a cook at Melcher-Dallas High School from 1975 until retirement in 2007. There were many things Joann was active in, including the church, Altar & Rosary and the Melcher-Dallas Red Hat Association.

Joann enjoyed traveling with Clifford to various states and Canada! They would often attend music festivals.

She was an amazing baker! She made pies for the pumpkin patch for several years. She won best Raspberry Pie when Ragbrai came through town! She was an avid seamstress! She made each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild quilts and afghans!

The grandchildren were very fond of their grandma! She enjoyed watching them play sports. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy through the years!

Joann will be greatly missed by her children Mary Helen (Greg) Chelleen, Craig (Karla) Hoch, Kevin (Anita) Hoch, Todd (Candy) Hoch; grandchildren: Ashley (Jeremy) Siglin, Stephanie Chelleen, Brandon (Britt) Chelleen, Kristi (Jason) Grimm, Nicholas (Julie) Hoch, Andrew (Leah) Hoch, Melissa (Tim) Reschly, Aaron (Courtney) Hoch, Jacob (Katie) Hoch, Whitney (Dillon) Eilers, Tyler (Daniella) Hoch, Haley Hoch; great-grandchildren Emmy, Jase, Olive, Dylan, Kyler, Rylan, Wyatt, Carly, Coy, Holden, Colin, and Hudson; sibling Ardean (Janice) Williams; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death were her husband, Clifford; parents Harold and Ruth Williams; in-laws Alban "Jim" and Leona Hoch; sister Elizabeth Hancock; and nephew Brian Hancock.

Special thank you to Lindsay Gerke and EveryStep Hospice for their care and compassion!
