JoAnn Jones, age 87, of Warfordsburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD.
Born Thursday, June 3, 1937, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George W. Staggs, Sr. and Bernice Leatherman.
JoAnn worked numerous occupations throughout her life. She had a love for crocheting, knitting, reading newspapers and books. She always enjoyed spending time taking care of her gardens.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Beatty and wife Judy of Hagerstown, MD, Rick Beatty and wife Eileen of Burlington, West Virginia; one daughter, Betty Whetzel of Warfordsburg, PA; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, John Staggs of Florida; five sisters, Louise Pfeifer, Teddy Hanlin, Midge Evans, Barbara Rohrbaugh all of Keyser, WV, and Dory Smith of Marietta, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Lee Jones who passed away December 4, 2019; three brothers, George (Bill) Staggs, Jr, Harry Staggs, and Henry Lee Staggs; one sister, Evelyn Starkey.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 11:00am at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery in Warfordsburg, PA.
