Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
Joann (D'Aversa) Sebastianelli, age 96, passed peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Fred Sebastianelli.
Born on July 16, 1926, in Johnstown, PA, Joann was the daughter of the late Phillip and Maria (Libra) D'Aversa. A warm, gentle person with a kind soul, Joann was devoted to her family.
Joann is survived by her beloved sons Mark Sebastianelli of Watertown and Gary Sebastianelli and his wife Gerry of Bristol; and her daughter Tara Conte of Wolcott. She also leaves her beloved grandson Benjamin Conte and granddaughter Lauren Arteaga and her husband Andres of Farmington as well as her great-grandchildren Lucas and Anna Arteaga and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Fred, Joann was predeceased by her grandson Michael Sebastianelli.
Joann would like to send special thanks to Dr. Paul Sirop and Mr. Bill Newsome for their friendships which she held dearly.
Joann's funeral will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 8:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury to The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 10:00am. Calling hours will be held on Monday morning from 8:00-9:30am. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joann's name may be made to any of the following: St. Therese's Church, 536 Decker Ave., Johnstown, PA 15906; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or online at stjude.org; or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 236 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or online at [email protected].
