Gary Sebastianelli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maiorano Funeral Home - Waterbury on Nov. 22, 2024.
Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and Cousin
Gary William Sebastianelli, age 71, passed peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Gerry (Audet) Sebastianelli.
Born on June 28, 1953, in Waterbury, Gary was the son of the late Fred and Joann (D'Aversa) Sebastianelli. Having lived a life filled with memorable experiences, Gary grew up in Waterbury and attended St. Thomas Grammar School and Wilby High School. He began his career as a tool and dye maker at Airpax. During that time, Gary attended technical school where he earned his degree in engineering. Continuing his professional career, Gary went on to work for Creed Monarch, where he rose to Vice-President of Sales. During his twenty-seven years there, he contributed to the aerospace and oil sectors, where he created and improved many components, of which some bear his initials (such as the GWS bit, used for drilling horizontally into oil reserves). Not stopping there, Gary also worked in the defense industry, providing consult to American and Israeli military manufacturers. Throughout his time in his respected profession, he had the opportunity to travel the world, including multiple trips to London, doing business with foreign manufacturers.
Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing immensely with his brother, Mark.
A man of conviction, heart, and ingenuity, Gary touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving lasting memories that those who knew him will forever cherish. Whether it be running from an incoming storm with his brother and nephew while fishing off the Rhode Island coast, taking his grandchildren on camping trips, going to the casino, and enjoying time with family and friends. Everyone loved his company and larger than life personality. Throughout his life, Gary always found a creative solution to any problem.
In addition to his beloved wife, Gerry of Bristol, he also leaves his beloved daughter Lauren Arteaga and her husband Andres of Farmington, his brother Mark Sebastianelli of Watertown and his sister Tara Conte of Wolcott. He also leaves his nephew Benjamin Conte of Wolcott, his stepdaughters Kendra Damon-Smith and her husband Thomas and Connie Harkey and her husband David; all of Bristol; his grandchildren Lucas, Anna, Mitchell, Andrew, Hunter, and Trevor as well as his great-granddaughters Ellie and Maisie and many cousins. In addition to his parents, Gary is now reunited with his beloved son, Michael.
Gary's funeral will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 8:30 am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury to The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 10:00am. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 – 9:30am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
