Jo Ann “Nanny” Rich Statom, age of 77 passed away on September 19, 2024, at her beloved home in Collinwood TN, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 29, 1947, the daughter of the late Gaynes T. and Clora Belle Berry Rich. She joined in marriage with Ralph Edward Statom on February 12, 1967, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories.
Jo Ann was an active member of the Collinwood United Methodist Church, where her faith and spirit inspired those around her. She dedicated herself to her profession, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and served with compassion at Wayne Care Nursing Home. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-own several businesses, including Jo Rose Original, Pro Star Manufacturing, and Sportee Prints. In addition to her impressive career, she also offered her administrative skills as a part-time secretary at Rayco and shared her passion for beauty as a hairdresser.
Jo Ann loved cooking, often filling her home with delightful aromas and generously sharing meals with family and friends. She also found joy in nurturing her tomato plants and flower garden, where vibrant blooms reflected her vibrant personality. Above all, Jo Ann cherished the moments spent with her sisters, kids, and grandchildren. Her heart swelled with pride as she watched her children and grandchildren coach and play sports.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Edward Statom of Collinwood, TN; sons, Michael Statom (Cindy) of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Mark Statom (Lindsay) of Collinwood, TN; daughters, Daphne Robertson (Steve) of Collinwood, TN, and Dana Lynn (Stoney) of Waynesboro, TN; sisters, Rosena Phillips of Florence, AL, and Teresa Evans (Dwight) of Waynesboro, TN; sisters-in-law, Rosanne Rich of Waynesboro, TN, and Betty Harrison of Florence, AL; and brother-in-law, Gerald Statom (Pat) of Lewisburg, TN; grandchildren, Blakely West (Joe), Nikki Robertson, Tucker Robertson (Hannah), Ty Robertson (Zoiee), Drew Statom, Jake Statom, Luke Statom, Kolby Lynn, Jonmikel Lynn, Tessa Statom, Tevy Statom, and Teeka Statom; great grandchildren, Tennyson West, Slate West, Fielder West, and Aubin Ruth Ann Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ann is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Ernest and Shorty Rich (Betty Rich); sister, Gainell Bevis (Ernest); brothers-in-law, Ray Phillips, Booney Harrison, and Jeff Statom (Doris); and mother and father-in law, James and Lorene Statom.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Tommy Flood and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens in Collinwood, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Butterfly Foundation and the Restoration Ranch where donations can be made at the Wayne County Bank.
