Joann M. Verdon, age 87, of Monroe, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at IHM Senior Living Community.
Joann was born November 3, 1936 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Joseph L. and Harriet (Pete) Karwick. She married Kenneth Verdon July 28, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie, sadly he preceded her in death on July 11, 2005.
She had attended Monroe High School and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Joann had a homemaker and then worked at Magnum Electric, Kline's and Meijer before her retirement in December 1997.
She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, bingo and cooking. She had also been very active in the senior community she had lived in for the last several years.
Joann is survived by her son, Rick Verdon of Monroe; sister Harriet Bowman of Washington and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
In accordance with Joann's wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside committal service will be held Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park with Fr. Kishore Battu officiating. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorial contributions in Joann's memory are suggested to Heartland Hospice, who provided care and support to Joann and her family in her final days.

JoAnn was one of our longest residents at the senior community I work at. She was always helping decorate, pass out papers and help with anything she could. She was best person and a friend to everyone. We are all going to miss her so much!
