JoAnna Lee Garcia, age 64 went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2023.
Joanna was born on November 21, 1958, to Herman and Corrine Garcia in Las
Vegas, New Mexico.
Joanna graduated High School from West Las Vegas in 1976 and received a Masters
Degree in Social Work from Highlands University in 1992. In 1999, Joanna moved to
Albuquerque to be closer to her two kids. JoAnna was extremely proud of her kids and
her grandkids, whom she constantly bragged about to anyone she talked to. She talked
to just about anyone and everyone whether it be a listening ear or offering advice. She
had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
She is preceded in death by her father Herman Garcia, her mother Corrine
Garcia, and her brother James Garcia.
She is survived by her two children Rob Vigil and wife Barbara; daughter Christina
Vigil, grandchildren; Andres, Izaea, Makayla, Taylor, Jeremiah and Nevaeh all who
made up the entirety of her world. She is also survived by her sister Loretta Chavez,
sister Diane Herrera and husband Ernie, her brother Phillip Garcia and wife
Annette, June Lopez; who our mom considered a sister, along with numerous
cousins, nieces, nephews, great and (great-great) nieces and nephews.
Our mother had a heart of gold. Her joyful spirit and contagious smile will be missed
by many.
Services will be held Thursday December 21, 2023 @ 11:00am at Calvary Church
Westside, 6051 Winter Haven Rd, Albuquerque, NM. Reception to follow at
Church.
