Joanne Bertha Maturo, 81, of West Bridgewater passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 peacefully at her home. She was the wife of the late William Maturo.

Joanne was born in Boston, MA on March 31, 1944. She was the daughter of late Randall George Hirtle and Pearl Idelle (Fisher) Hirtle. She was an active church member who was unashamed at being the only one singing at times. Her children remember her graceful bowling form as she was a dedicated team member at the local bowling alley. While she slayed the pins, her children were babysat by the pinball machines in the game room. Some of her hobbies were aerobics, basket weaving, ping pong in the basement and reupholstering old furniture.

In later years, she attended bingo, slingo, and chair yoga. Joanne loved spending time with family and grandchildren, and especially loved living part time in FL with her husband where they enjoyed walks on the beach, and swimming in the pool. She especially loved memories of family vacations in North Conway.

Joanne graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester, MA.

Joanne's primary job was being a loving wife and mother. With excitement and creativity, she opened her home to lead the Brownie Troop in her basement where her daughters and many other young girls attended. She was also a lunch lady at the local school and an amazing Sunday school teacher at her home church, Saint Anne's. In later years she worked full time for East Bridgewater Savings Bank then the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Joanne is survived by her children. Lynne (and Robert) Matthews, James Maturo, Michelle (and Mark) Vigliotti, and Diane (and Noel) Sierra. She had 8 grandchildren: Joshua & Marcus Matthews, Robert James Maturo, Mikayla & Madison Vigliotti, Jeremiah, Mya, & Hailey (Baker) Sierra. She is also survived by her sister Jeanette (Hirtle) Ide and her brothers Harry Hirtle, Clarence Hirtle and many friends. She is predeceased by her siblings, George Hirtle, Melvin Hirtle, Ronald Hirtle, Joan (Hirtle) Daniels, Randall Hirtle, and Joy (Hirtle) Aran.

Joanne is remembered as the neighborhood mom with a contagious smile that brightened everyone's day.
