It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Sinclair Tracey, who departed this life on July 7, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1964, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica, to Vinette Tracey and the late Samuel Tracey.
In 1968, when his parents migrated to the United States, young Sinclair remained in Jamaica and was lovingly raised in Beecher Town, St. Ann, by his devoted grandparents, the late Florence Johnson and Ronald Johnson, and his late uncle Neville Johnson. His mischievous and joyful spirit filled their home with life and laughter.
In 1975, Sinclair joined his family in Dorchester, Massachusetts, where he lived with his older siblings Gloy George, Garfield Cover, and Jacqueline Nolan. He attended Washington Irving Middle School in Roslindale and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester.
Sinclair dedicated over 20 years to Boston University as a valued member of the maintenance department, forming deep friendships and a strong work ethic that his colleagues never forgot. After leaving BU, he found new purpose serving at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and later at Boston Children's Hospital, where he worked until his passing. Deeply moved by the patients he encountered-especially the children he was unable to comfort-Sinclair's heart remained open and empathetic to the suffering of others. Known affectionately as "the mayor" at his job, his impact was evidenced by their heartfelt response after his passing.
Sinclair was a man of warmth, charm, and endless compassion. He had a magnetic personality, and people were naturally drawn to his kindness and light. He loved NASCAR, fishing, learning about the universe, and watching true crime shows and movies. He found joy in driving to new places, always eager to explore and experience new adventures.
A devoted bird lover, Sinclair kept cages of various birds at home over the years, finding peace in their presence. He also took immense pride in his cars, which were always clean and polished-often adorned with colors and designs celebrating his heritage. Sinclair was incredibly proud to be Jamaican, and it showed in everything from his wardrobe to his conversations.
Sinclair was predeceased by his beloved father, Samuel Tracey, and his cherished son, Derek Crowder, whom he now joins in eternal peace.
He leaves behind his devoted mother, Vinette Tracey; siblings Gloy George, Garfield Cover, and Jacqueline Nolan; granddaughter Nevaeh Crowder; grandson Dsahan Crowder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved and admired him.
Sinclair's legacy is one of love, resilience, humor, and pride. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Sinclair will be greatly missed.
