ALEXANDRIA, IN – Joanne M. (Schmidt) Richardson, 90, met Jesus face to face in the morning hours of Thursday, July 17, 2025, from her daughter's residence following a brief illness.

She was born on January 19, 1935, in Anderson to Clarence and Ada (Lafferty) Schmidt and has resided in Alexandria for most of her lifetime. She was a graduate of Anderson High School-Class of 1954. Joanne retired in 1988 as a motor carrier for the US Postal Service after 25 years of employment. She has been a long-time member of the Innisdale United Brethren in Christ Church. Joanne was a lover of God's creation, whether it be the outdoors or of the four-legged type. She was very fond of animals, especially her dogs and cats. She enjoyed crocheting and gifted her family and friends with her creations of love. Hard working hands have now laid to rest…

SURVIVORS:

2 Sons-Gene (Barbara) Richardson, Moe (Debbie) Richardson

3 Daughters-Twana Hiatt (Troy Miller), Beth (Gordon) Bright and Lori (Dewey) Rushin

Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of nearly 57 years-Donald R. Richardson in 2012, Sister-Lola Fabian, Brothers-Leroy Schmidt, Gerald Schmidt, Clyde Schmidt, Jack Schmidt

Services honoring Joanne's life, legacy and faith are private and will take place in the Innisdale United Brethren in Christ Church with friends and family members participating. Interment will take place in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Innisdale United Brethren in Christ Church, 1101 West 1st Street, Alexandria, IN 46001 or Homers Helpers, PO Box 211, Alexandria, IN 46001-0211.

The Richardson family would like to express their appreciation to Paradigm Hospice, and especially hospice nurse Joanne Smith for her tender and loving care.

Joanne's care and service arrangements have been entrusted to the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
