On October 4, 2025, surrounded by love, Joanne Renee Walsh Klinger’s courageous 15-month fight with neuroendocrine carcinoma came to an end at Carteret Health. She was 56 years old.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be planned at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor her memory.
Born on March 31, 1969, Joanne was the daughter of the late Stephen William Walsh and Lula Elsie Harrison Walsh. She spent her early years in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before moving to New Bern, North Carolina, where she lived most of her life and built countless cherished memories.
Joanne’s life was a true testament to strength and courage. Just two years before her diagnosis of neuroendocrine cancer, she bravely fought and won a battle with breast cancer. Through it all, she showed resilience, grace, and an unshakable love for her family. She was so much more than words can capture—an amazing wife, a proud and loving mother, and a loyal sister and friend. She lived her life with kindness, compassion, and a light that touched everyone she met—Joanne truly never knew a stranger. Her home was her happy place, especially when filled with the laughter of family and the comfort of her animals. She loved spending her days feeding her deer, watching crime shows, and being outside in the peace of nature. Even in her hardest moments, Joanne’s strength and love never wavered. She made sure her family always knew how deeply she cared for them. Her heart was as big as her smile, and her presence was a gift to all who knew her. Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Gagnon of Havelock, NC; her children, Stephen Warren of Bridgeton, NC and Stephanie Warren of Havelock, NC; her beloved brothers, Bill Walsh (Cathy) of Jacksonville, NC and Steve Walsh of Wilmington, NC; her caring sisters, Carolyn Pollock (Nick) of New Bern, NC, Patti Walsh of New Bern, NC, and Tracy Werley Boreman (Robert) of Walnutport, PA; her many fur babies who brought her joy every single day; and all her extended family who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, whom she held close to her heart.
In lieu flowers memorial donations may be made to the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Road, Newport, N.C. 28570.
