Jo Ann Lantz "Jody" of Abilene passed away January 13, 2025. She was born March 9, 1934 in Abilene, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Gish) Simmons. Her father passed away when she was 14 years old, and was adopted by Andy and Laura Houlton. She attended the Abilene school districts and graduated from Abilene High School. On February 13, 1955 she was united in marriage to Roy Lantz. He survives of the home. Jody worked for Houlton's Grocery Store, Simmons Drug Store, Alco General Office and Martin's Clothing Store. She lived in Abilene area for 44 years and later they moved to Colorado where they lived for 20 years before returning back to the Salina and Abilene area. Her time out in Colorado was enjoyable for her as she got to travel all across the states for Roy's work. She was a longtime member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Jody is survived by her loving husband Roy of the home. One son, Mark Lantz and wife Doreen of Salina. Grandchildren: David, MiKayla and Zachary. Great-Grandchildren; Tinley, Wesley and Corwin,and sister-in-laws, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and adopted parents and her beautiful daughter Aileta Anderson. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 17, 2025 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Jason Kohler officiating. Burial will follow at the Abilene Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be given to the First Christian Church or to the American Alzheimer's Association. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410. Online condolences may be sent to www.martinbeckercarlson.com
