Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville ChapelIt is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joe Ann Blair, at the age of 83, on November 16, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on May 12, 1942, in Russell Springs, Kentucky. Joe Ann was a beloved member of her community, known for her unwavering kindness and dedication to her work and family.
Joe Ann had a remarkable career as a High School Teacher and Assistant Principal at Iroquois High School, where she inspired countless students and fellow educators. Following her retirement, she found joy in her passion for floral arrangements at Nanz & Kraft Florist, bringing beauty to many lives through her artistry. Joe Ann earned her Master's Degree from the University of Louisville, which allowed her to further enhance her contributions to education.
Her kind spirit and genuine warmth touched the hearts of everyone she met. Those who knew her would attest that she was one of the sweetest individuals, possessing a compassionate nature and a love for animals. Joe Ann enjoyed reading, gardening, and particularly cherished spending time with her daughter, Blair, at Huber's farm, where they would create memories while picking fresh fruits and vegetables.
Joe Ann is survived by her loving daughter, Blair Howe (Bryan), her sister, Ruby Singleton, her brother, Osborne "Bud" Toler, and a host of loving cousins and extended family who will carry her legacy forward. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Joseph "J.S." and Flossie (Kinnett) Toler, her son, James "Jamie" Donald Blair, Jr., and her sister, Zina "Kate" Catherine Schubert.
Friends and family are invited to honor Joe Ann’s life and legacy at the Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM. Joe Ann's beautiful spirit will be profoundly missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
The family requests that contributions in Joe Ann’s memory be made to Louisville Metro Animal Services and/or Kentucky Humane Society.
